The natural sunlight shines down on the “Sagrada Famila,” casting dark shadows on the opposite side of the structure, washing away the colors, and creating an atmospheric perspective.

Local Color, Atmospheric Perspective, & Diagonal Emphasis:
Value Emphasis:
This image captures the contrast between dark and light. The backlighting of this fountain against the dark surrounding makes the water feature a focal point.
Blurred Outline:
The blurred lines of the taxi in the background capture the vehicle’s movement. Without the distorted lines, the taxi would appear to be in a parked position.
With the actors in the foreground portraying the illusion that they are cast in concrete, and the stillness of the surrounding scenery, this movement creates an interesting visual.
Tactile Texture:
Antonio Gaudi’s “Casa Batllo,” has a variety of materials on the facade, creating visual interest and texture. The roof of this building is remarkably designed to resemble a sea serpent.
Contour:
Antonio Gaudi exaggerates the lines and curves on the facade of the “Casa Mila,” to form the unique contour of this building.
Suprematism & Proportion:
The industrial look and feel of the material used in the composition of these buildings, combined with their rectangular design and grid-like facades, provide an example of suprematism.
Allover Pattern:
Antonio Gaudi applies symmetrical design elements, through use of equal spacing, recurring shapes, and repeating patterns, in his blueprint for the “Sagrada Familia,” which creates an allover pattern throughout the structure.
Pop Art:
“Peix,” located in Port Olimpic, is a large-scale sculpture, fabricated from shiny metal, stone, and glass.
Focal Point & Accent:
The negative space surrounding this image adds dimension, which brings the objects to the forefront and creates a focal point. The light pole acts as an accent, or secondary focal point.
